Matt Griffin Chief Executive Officer for Payson Petroleum, Inc.
Fifteen years ago, Matt Griffin left a successful career in real estate and development to take part in a family-run oil company: Santa Fe Petroleum. Since 1997, He has primarily worked in investor relations, business development, and as a registered broker.
Mr. Griffin has held positions in several energy companies including: Santa Fe Petroleum, Lone Star Securities, Harbor Resources, and Red Rock Energy before he branched off and began Payson Petroleum.
Throughout his career in the oil field, Mr. Griffin has worked on almost 20 wells for the companies listed above, one of which was a horizontal drilling program. These projects have been located in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and in the Gulf of Mexico.
Recently, Mr. Griffin operated, drilled and completed the Brown #1 well in Grayson County, Texas. He is now working on a multi-well package to be drilled and completed later this year.
Mr. Griffin feels that integrity, open communication, transparency and honesty are some of the most important attributes a leader can posses. He believes that he has been “gifted to be in a position of leadership in order to bring the highest level of talent to the table and the vision to lead and encourage the team to accomplish their goals.”

Mr. Griffin attended Texas Christian University, and majored in Accounting. During Mr. Griffin’s time at several energy companies, he gained experience in the management of construction of multiple drilling rigs, the staffing of those rigs, financial oversight of company revenue, and insurance implementation of multiple companies. Mr. Griffin oversees and is responsible for all the financial oversight of Payson Petroleum, Inc., as well as assisting in project coordination. Mr. Griffin started in the oil and gas industry in 1997.

Mr. Griffin attended the University of Phoenix and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Early in his career Mr. Griffin gained knowledge and experience in client relations as a small business owner and became involved in the oil and gas industry in 2000 when he joined Santa Fe Petroleum. After leaving Santa Fe, he was a founding partner of Red Rock Energy Partners, which was formed in 2001. Dan oversees and is responsible for the administrative side at Payson and is directly involved in investor relations. Rick Johnson – Operations Manger for Payson Petroleum , Inc
Rick Johnson’s career in the oil business began 45 years ago in Corpus Christi, TX. Since 1967, Mr. Johnson has contributed his talents to more than 1000 wells coast to coast, with a primary focus on Texas and the Gulf Coast. He has worked internationally in Tunisia, North Africa, Columbia, South America, and Mexico. Additionally, Mr. Johnson has participated in over 300 horizontal drilling projects.
Mr. Johnson has held integral leadership positions in several notable energy companies including: Target Directional Drilling, HNG Oil Co., and Chaparral Energy. Furthermore, he created and led Ranger Petroleum Management and Rick Johnson & Associates to success.
In addition, Mr. Johnson has had the opportunity to serve on various advisory committees and has acted as a guest instructor at the University of Oklahoma.
Among other noteworthy accomplishments is his participation in several multi-rig drilling programs. At one time Mr. Johnson had 21 wells drilling simultaneously in South Texas.
Payson feels that Mr. Johnson brings forth elements of integrity, passion, drilling expertise, team building, teaching and management—skills that are relatively unmatched in the industry today.
Mr. Johnson feels that the main qualities to look for in an oil company are: integrity, the ability to take responsibility for one’s actions and speech, a personal walk with Jesus Christ, and the ability to value one’s words instead of position.
Mr. Johnson has joined the Payson Petroleum team stating: “North Texas and Grayson County has the potential to produce a measurable amount of left behind oil as well as newly developing oil reserves. New technology coupled with the rising price of oil makes this play have the potential to be very, very commercial.”
Ronald T. Cramer Contract Petroleum Geologist for Payson Petroleum, Inc.
Mr. Cramer earned a Masters Degree in geology and is a Certified Texas Professional Geologist (PG 1237). He has over 40 years experience in exploitation, exploration and development of oil and gas Some of Mr. Cramer’s experience level would include Senior Staff Geologist and company management.
1973 thru 1998, Mr. Cramer was with Union Pacific Resources (UPR) and Rocky Mountain Energy, a subsidiary of Union Pacific Railroad. During that 25 year period, he worked as a principal geologist, senior staff geologist, project geologist and a manager/acting general manager. Mr. Cramer has worked in Texas, Colorado, and Wyoming.
During Mr. Cramer’s career, he received many “Special Awards” from Union Pacific Resources and honoring societies. Some of these include:

Since 1999, Mr. Cramer has operated his own company as an Independent Geological Consultant.
James D. Henry Petroleum Geologist / Stratigrapher, Frisco, Texas.
Mr. Henry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the University of Texas at Austin, 1970. Mr. Henry was employed as an exploration geologist in charge of southern and western Oklahoma for one of the state’s largest independents: Beard Oil Company from 1985 until 1991. From 1992 to present, he has worked as an independent geologist and consultant (Dallas). During this time, Mr. Henry has generated, packaged, and sold prospects in North Texas, including field and office work in the Fort Worth Basin, Eastern Shelf of the Midland Basin, southern and Western Oklahoma, and East Texas.
Aaron Fuqua Graphic Artist / Web Developer / Information Technology Consultant
Mr. Fuqua attended University of Texas at Dallas. Mr. Fuqua designs and creates all corporate websites. Aaron Fuqua also implements and maintains the enterprise email and communication systems. Preparation, design, layout, and coordination of the printing of marketing and educational materials are a vital part of his contribution.
